Cairns Hockey Association | Represent Cairns Hockey 2019

Cairns Hockey and the Far North Queensland community has a proud tradition of selecting representative teams to compete regionally and state-wide. Cairns Hockey has produced local, state and national representatives and continues to commit to sending representative teams to all State Hockey Championships in both junior and senior divisions. In 2018, over 350 players represented Cairns across regional and state competition, over 40 coaches and managers were involved in representative teams and over 40 umpires and technical officials from Cairns Hockey officiated in regional, state and national championships. In 2019 there are more opportunities planned

Cairns Hockey believes the interest in our young people are of paramount importance and Cairns Hockey Board resolved some years ago that all coaches, managers and officials who are involved in the management of representative teams involving junior players are required to hold a Blue Card under the Queensland Working with Children legislation as part of Cairns Hockey’s requirements.

In 2018 the Cairns Hockey Board is working towards new programs relating to Talent Pathways, Representative Programs and Academy Specialized Programs. These plans will be made available when the Board of CHA confirms them for 2019.

Cairns Hockey Board approved Guidelines for Selection and information is being reviewed and the 2019 Guidelines will be uploaded once confirmed by the Board.

For more details on selection panels for Age Group, please contact Wesley Ferns or David McNeil and they will be happy to outline what is happening in each year.

This page will provide important information for those wanting to and/or are/be selected to represent Cairns. Content and information will be relevant to all levels of participation from players to coaches and managers.

The CHA 2019  Representative Manual contains all the relevant information is being prepared and will be available as soon as possible..
