Cairns Hockey Under 11 Development Squad - Annual Karumba Tour

Cairns Hockey through its partnership with RIHP has been supporting as a partner for over 12 years in the hockey competition in Karumba and Gulf Savannah.

In 2016, with the support of the Aspire to be Deadly Program, the Cairns Under11 Development Squad travelled out to support and advance hockey in the region for young people.

This was a  history making tour and Cairns Hockey is proud to be able to support and advance links with remote hockey programs in the Gulf and Torres Strait Island and Cairns Hockey mainstream programs through its Aspire Hockey Programs. It was also a success and plans will be made to replicate this and advance it in 2017.

The Karumba Hockey Carnival was first held in 2004 as a 6-a side competition. Over the years the festival has grown significantly, last year the competition increased to a 9-a side format and over 100 children participated across 2 divisions.
