Cairns Hockey increased its registered numbers across 3 consecutive years

Recently the Hockey Queensland CEO was in Cairns discussing the state of play of hockey and reaffirmed that participation is the No.1 challenge to the sport state-wide. Cairns Hockey Clubs have recognized this and have joined with Cairns Hockey to include Growth Strategy as a primary objective in the 2016-2020 Cairns Hockey Strategic Plan. Through these collaborations and partnerships, we have addressed many difficult issues and together we are making progress. The progress is slow and we all must be patient and not take our eye off the challenge of growing our sport and making it relevant to our region and our supporters. Cairns Hockey is proud that together our clubs, our supporters and our volunteers worked together and achieved 7% participation growth in 2017 – the highest increase in many years
