Cairns Hockey | Summer Sixes Competition and Cairns Indoor Hockey
The Summer Sixes is a new initiative of Cairns Hockey, introduced and run for the first time in 2015. It’s a short and sharp competition, which runs from October to January. It has a Seniors and Under 13 competition. It is a modified version of the full field, winter competition.
The Summer Sixes competition mixed gender teams consist of a maximum of nine (9) players, with six (6) on the field of play at any one time. A minimum of five (5) players is required before taking the field. Each team must have more women than men. There is a maximum of three (3) men per team on the field at any one time.
Players can only be registered in one (1) team, but may fill in for other teams if needed. Players can sub on and sub off at will, at any time during the game.
Games are played over 2 x 20 minutes periods with a three (3) minute break at half time. There is a seven (7) minute break between games, to allow retiring teams to get off the field and new teams to warm up.
Games fees apply. They are $60 per team, per game, for the Seniors | $40 per team, per game, for Under 13s.
More information will be posted about each years competition in August and September when team nominations will open. If you have any queries in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us on (07) 4053 2308 or firstname.lastname@example.org
